Baba Magic LLC
Last Updated: August 3, 2026
Effective Date: August 3, 2026
NOTICE TO USERS:
This Privacy Policy describes how Baba Magic LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the baba app, baba web app, baba Chrome extension, baba: learn hebrew, or baba Enterprise. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Introduction
Baba Magic LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the baba App, the baba Web App, the baba Chrome Extension, or baba: learn hebrew ("baba Learn") — together, the "Services." IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SERVICES.
Baba News (news.itsbaba.com) is a separate product with its own privacy practices, not covered here — see Section 2.6.
1.1 Key Points Summary
- We collect translation content, learning progress, account, device, and usage data — the exact mix depends on which product you use (Section 2).
- We do not sell your personal information, to anyone, for any product.
- We do not use your translations, images, or learning answers to train AI models.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps or websites from within the baba App, Web App, Extension, or Learn.
- Our public marketing website uses standard web analytics and advertising-conversion cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, PostHog) — see Section 5. This is separate from, and does not apply to, your in-app translation or learning content.
- You have rights to access, correct, and delete your data, subject to certain limitations (Section 7).
- We comply with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, and other applicable privacy laws.
1.2 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email, an in-app notice, or a push notification. The "Last Updated" date above shows when it was last revised. Continued use of a Service after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.
2. Information We Collect
The categories below apply broadly across our translation products (the baba App, Web App, and Chrome Extension), followed by the specifics for baba Learn, baba Enterprise, and Baba News.
2.1 Account Information (App, Web App, Extension)
When you create an account, we collect your email address, a hashed password (if you use one), display name, language preferences, and communication preferences. Signing in with the same account links your data across the App, Web App, and Extension.
2.2 Translation Content
We process the text you input for translation, images you upload for image translation, the resulting translations, the context settings you choose (such as gender context or formality level), and — if you save it — your translation history.
2.3 The baba App (iOS & Android) — Additional Data
- Device information: hardware model, OS version, a stable installation ID, mobile network information, IP address, and locale/time zone settings.
- Purchase information: our subscription partner RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play Store process your purchase and give us your subscription status and an app-specific purchaser ID. We never receive your full card number.
- Voice and camera input: if you use voice or camera-based translation, the audio or image is sent to the relevant AI provider to produce a translation, and is not retained for any purpose beyond completing that request and, if you choose, saving it to your history.
- We do not collect precise GPS location.
2.4 The baba Web App — Additional Data
- Browser storage: we store your session token in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in.
- Billing information: if you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment and shares your subscription status and billing history with us. We never receive your full card number.
- Standard web log data: IP address, browser type and version, referring page, and timestamps, collected by our hosting and content-delivery providers for security and reliability.
2.5 The baba Chrome Extension — Additional Data
The extension only reads the text you actively select for translation on a page — it does not read or transmit your general browsing history. It stores your sign-in session and preferences in the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), and uses cookies scoped to itsbaba.com to complete magic-link sign-in. See Section 5.3 of our Terms of Service for the full list of browser permissions the extension requests and why.
2.6 baba: learn hebrew — Data Practices
baba Learn works fully offline. You can learn without an account, and your progress is stored on your device. Signing in with your email is optional, and only used so we can send a secure sign-in link and sync your progress across devices.
- Written practice answers: the text you type may be sent to our servers and to an AI grading provider (Anthropic, accessed through OpenRouter) so we can check your answer and give feedback. This is used only to grade and coach that response — never to train AI models.
- Speech practice: pronunciation checks run using your device's on-device speech recognition. We do not upload or store recordings of your voice.
- Learning progress: lesson completions, experience points, streaks, and your spaced-review schedule, stored on your device and, if you're signed in, also on our servers so you can restore it on a new device.
- Purchases: RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play Store process baba Pro purchases the same way described in Section 2.3.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data through Sentry, plus basic device and app details, to keep the app stable.
- Notifications and photos: if you allow notifications, we send streak and review reminders. If you save or share a progress card, the app writes that image to your photo library — we do not read or browse your photo library otherwise.
baba Learn specifically does not:
- Sell your personal information.
- Use your answers, voice, or progress to train AI models.
- Use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps or websites — the app does not show a tracking-permission prompt because it does not track you.
2.7 baba Enterprise — Data Practices
This Privacy Policy addresses our handling of business contact information we collect from prospective and current Enterprise customers (name, work email, company, and message content) through our contact form or sales outreach, used only to respond to your inquiry and administer your account. Content your organization submits to Meridian CMS, Meridian Static, or the HebrewCore API for translation or localization ("Customer Content") is processed on your organization's behalf under the terms of your signed order form or Master Services Agreement, including any Data Processing Addendum — not under this consumer-facing Privacy Policy. If you are an end reader of a website localized using Meridian, your interaction with that website is governed by that website operator's own privacy policy, not ours.
2.8 Baba News
Baba News (news.itsbaba.com) is a no-login news reading product with its own separate Privacy Policy, describing its own limited use of aggregate analytics (Google Analytics 4, Vercel Analytics) and local storage for reading preferences. It is not covered by this Privacy Policy — please refer to its own page.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described in Section 2 to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Services and provide translation, learning, and localization functionality
- Process and manage subscriptions and payments
- Sync your history, progress, or entitlements across devices and products when you are signed in
- Personalize your experience and remember your preferences
- Send service-related communications, respond to support requests, and (where you've opted in) send product updates or marketing
- Send push notifications or reminders you've enabled, which you can disable in device settings
- Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and monitor the reliability of the Services
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security threats, and enforce our Terms of Service
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information, for any Service.
- We do not use your translations, images, written answers, or voice to train AI models. Content you submit is sent to our AI providers only to generate that translation or grade that answer, in accordance with those providers' own data-handling commitments to us.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or engage in cross-app/cross-site tracking from within the App, Web App, Extension, or Learn.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run the Services, each authorized to use it only as necessary to provide their service to us:
- AI providers (via OpenRouter and Cloudflare AI Gateway): to generate translations and grade written practice answers. This currently includes Anthropic; the specific provider used for a given request may change as we route to the best available model.
- Text-to-speech (ElevenLabs): to generate spoken audio for supported features.
- Cloud infrastructure (Neon, Cloudflare): to host our database and run our servers.
- Apple, Google, and RevenueCat: to process and manage mobile subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Stripe: to process and manage Web App subscriptions.
- Resend: to deliver transactional email, including sign-in links.
- Sentry: to receive crash reports and diagnostic data.
- Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and PostHog: on our public marketing website (itsbaba.com) only, for aggregate traffic measurement and ad-conversion tracking — not within the signed-in App, Web App, Extension, or Learn experience.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of our users or the public, to investigate fraud or abuse, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case you will be notified by email and/or a notice in the Services.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our marketing website (itsbaba.com) uses cookies and similar technologies from Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and PostHog to measure traffic and ad performance. You can control these through your browser's cookie and privacy settings, your device's ad-tracking controls, or opt-out tools offered by those providers.
Within the App, Web App, and Extension, we use only the local storage and cookies necessary to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (Section 2), not for advertising. baba Learn uses local, on-device storage for the same purpose and does not use advertising identifiers, as described in Section 2.6.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Account information: retained while your account is active, plus up to 90 days after deletion for backup and legal-compliance purposes.
- Translation history, uploaded images, and learning progress: retained while your account is active; deleted or anonymized within 30 days of account deletion.
- Usage and log data: typically retained 12-24 months for analytics and security purposes.
- Diagnostic/crash data: kept for a limited period and is not tied to your identity.
- Financial records: retained for 7 years as required by law.
7. Your Data Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information:
7.1 General Rights (All Users)
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting privacy@itsbaba.com.
- Correction: update your account information in-app or in your account settings, or ask us to correct it.

- Marketing Opt-Out: unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email or your in-app notification settings.
7.2 GDPR Rights (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
- Right of access, rectification, and erasure ("right to be forgotten")

- Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights
7.4 Israeli Privacy Rights
If you are located in Israel, you have rights under the Protection of Privacy Law (PPL), as amended by Amendment 13, including rights of access, correction, deletion, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority.
8. International Data Transfers
We primarily operate from the United States, with our founder and team based in Israel and other locations globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, Israel, and countries where our service providers operate, whose data-protection laws may differ from your own jurisdiction's.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms — such as adequacy decisions (including the adequacy decision covering transfers to Israel), Standard Contractual Clauses, or other approved safeguards — for transfers outside those regions.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, and network security through our infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities without undue delay, as required by applicable law.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for general audiences, including baba Learn, which some younger learners may use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, which may be 16 in parts of the EEA) without verifiable parental consent.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, contact privacy@itsbaba.com and we will take steps to delete it.
